Hello Dominik,
New to this forum but it looks amazing!
I was wondering if I could also be able to test the Midnight EA and is there a preferred brokerage for this forum for testing?Cheers,
Hi wop1990
Please write to me Private Message with your account number and I’ll send you Midnight EA version assigned to your account.
Here you can take a look at broker page which I suggest to use with Midnight EA (and other EAs): http://theinvestbay.com/broker
And here you can see some results of Midnight EA (from almost 3 weeks of January): https://www.mql5.com/en/signals/257596 – in the meantime I removed 3 pairs from 16 (you’ll find all info in “What’s new” tab).
By the way, Midnight EA will be published soon on MQL5.com Market and I’m preparing limited promotion for all forum members to buy full unlimited version with lifetime updates for symbolic price. Promotion will be time-limited to max. 2-3 days. I hope that all users that will buy it will share results on forum and we will be able to make it even better and I’ll be able to code improvements (if will be any) so you all will have new version(s) automatically through MQL5 accounts direct in MT4.
Stay tuned
Regards!

I get so confused with time zones Love that you have tested 2012-2016. Just wondering do you have any thoughts why the gains are so large in 2016-17 compared to earlier years? Where can I read more generally about what is happing at midnight?
Kind regards

TimHi.
Why are you so confused with time zones? Gains aren’t larger in 2016-17. It only looks that gains are bigger on graphs made on backtests with auto-lot, because at the end of backtests balance is bigger than initial, so size of lot is bigger too and profits grow almost parabolically. If you look at these 16 charts of each pair (which are created with fixed lots) you will see that the profits grow linearly, not parabolically. In this way (backtests with fixed-lot) you can find out how big will be your gains or losses weekly/monthly/annualy/etc, because that is what matters in real trading.
To check maximum Drawdown which may occur on your account with specified strategy, the best way is to create a backtest with automatic lot, because even if your account will be bigger proportions will be preserved (lot/balance) and Drawdown in % will be real. You know that if you could have 1,000,000$ balance you wouldn’t trade with 0.01 lot, right? ๐ Imagine the situation that you invest 20,000$, you trade with 1 lot and you make 10% gains per month (2,000$) and you pay out all your profits, so you have always only 20,000$ on your account and ratio lot/balance is always constant. This is the whole logic in making backtests with auto-lot.

02.02.2017 at 06:25 #4754Lelik18SpectatorHi. I am currently running … and … asia in my account. I would like to know if the trades will overlap so it will be dangerous to run also Midnight EA in the same account. If the logic is totally different I don’t care about the drawdown. Thanks for all your work.

Hi fusion73,
Midnight EA opens trades after 21:00 UTC (GMT) and before midnight. Trades can be opened for several hours and it’s hard to say how it will work with other EA together. You can check it in simple way just by putting everything on demo account… then you’ll know everything
Regards!

Thanks for your answer, but my question was, if Midnight EA is a night scalper with the same logic so the trades would be very similar. I will try it on demo to check…

So you’ve answered yourself or that wasn’t a question ๐
By the way, I’ve just published list of improvements on MQL5 site (https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/20443 – tab “Comments”), which I will try to add to the next version of Midnight EA and I will paste it also here:
- 1. News filter.
2. Possibility to set Hard-/Power-SL and TP – visible on chart.
3. Possibility to set lot of size according to risk per position depending on SL.
4. Limit of opened orders of one pair per day.
5. Possibility to turn off trading in specified days of week.
6. Additional information in “Comment” area.I need some time to code it and test it, so please be patient and stay tuned!
There is no “news filter” in Midnight right now, so please watch out for the news with high and medium impact (for example today before and about midnight pairs with AUD, NZD and JPY are risky to trade, so keep that in mind and consider turning them off).
If anyone have some ideas, questions, opinions etc feel free to ask and write
Regards!
02.02.2017 at 19:32 #4759norrbaggenSpectatorHello Dominik,
thanks for your great EA and your amazing support what is quite unusual. Your EA is running nicely so far the entrys are great a lot of winners.
I was just looking into ways on how to improve the performance even more and cut out some loosing trades.I`m very happy that you are going to include a news filter on NZD and AUD to avoid these risky days.
There are also other ways to tell the EA not to enter a trade there like looking at the volatility or tick rate speed but as you have already mentioned the news filter i guess we will get the optimal solution
I have one point for bug fixing (probably): if i set the GMT_Offset_For_Testing higher than 2 the backtests dont bring any results.
And actually one little request: Would it be possible to include a time based SL for testing? A simple sleep timer would do that closes trades after lets say 2 hours.
Thats all for now, wish you happy trading!

Hi Steven!
You’re welcome
1) We can trade on 16 or even more pairs, so I think that news filter based on economic calendar should be enough – even if there will be news with high or medium impact for several pairs we will still have some pairs to trade without risk of impact of news. If this solution will be not enough – I will add algorithm based on volatility or tick rate speed as you said and we’ll test it
2) You’re good that you catched this bug with offset calculating I’ve already removed this bug few days ago, but I didn’t change the version of Midnight that I sent to MQL5.com, because I didn’t want to wait another 10 days for a check new file by MQL staff etc.
3) I’ve already tested different ways to close the trades which are too long opened, few months ago. As I can remember closing orders with timer didn’t give better results than normal SL as in current version, because some of those orders opened for a longer time than 4 or 8 hours have been finally closed with profit. Maybe there is some other way to predict if trend is strong enough in opposite direction that our order doesn’t have any chance to get back in profit.
I have many ideas, but i didn’t code and optimize them all YET
Regards and good luck!
04.02.2017 at 15:54 #4760Mike TrendSpectatorHi Dominik, i have purchased your Midnight.
Im gonna start on monday testing it on alpari pro-ecn account.
Is it normal having a couple of winnings of 15$ as you have on some gbp pairs? ( with a 0.01 lot) Im asking this because i wanted to estimate the EV ( expected value) with the data of your signal:
average profit = 0.39
average loss= -2.27
profit trades = 92.66%
loss trades = 7.34%
EV = (0.9266*0.39)-(0.0734*2.27)= 0.1947This is the EV or the expected payout with the EA righ now, per 0.01 per trade.
I will post results from fxbook with my account to check the winning ratio per pair.
One question, is there a news filter in the next version? for example, 31 Jan losses are because of that ( CAD and NZD news). Checking the news calendar it seems to be news every day about NZD or AUD , what calendar do you check??
Good work with the EA , in my opinion , the news filter should decrease the loss trades % and increase the EV.
Thanks
07.02.2017 at 20:39 #4761fredy58SpectatorHi
Bought your system and after few days of Demo testing I see potential here. When the new changes come I feel confident to start live system.
Wanted to ask about money management. Iยดm having small difficulties to determine risk level what would be suitable for the system. I want to run 16 pairs and in that case is the risk level lots to balance = 10. If you would run 8 pairs should you use lots to balance = 20 to have about same risk level?
2nd issue is the base currency. If you base currency is something else then USD system automatically calculates wrong LOT sizes. In my case I use AUD so I use 25% smaller risk level to compensate the AUD/USD = 0,75 currency level. It might be a nice option if system could recognize different base currency and adapt to it daily. Second option is that I just adapt the level once as AUD/USD 0,7 – 0,77 .
Base currency is not the biggest issue here, but maybe some day you could think about it. I just happens that some of these ECN brokers are giving best trade conditions for AUD accounts.
10.02.2017 at 12:35 #4762kimlongfxSpectatorHi,
so how does it works to test this Midnight ea that looks very interesting ? I downloaded it but it says the account number is not working.
Thanks10.02.2017 at 23:20 #4763DominikAdministratorHi!
Thank you all for contribution. I didn’t have time to answer till now, becasue I was focused to improve and publish new version of Midnight on MQL.
All improvements and news about Midnight you will find here: https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/20443 on “Comments” tab.
There is also possibility to test Midnight in Strategy Tester (in MT4 after downloading demo from their server).
Regards and have a nice weekend!
14.02.2017 at 06:45 #4764sipemacoSpectatorGreat job Dominik , Oanda is pissing blood at the moment. These bastards have been screwing me so hard but with the hidden stop and take profit their stop hunting “techniques” are useless. Truly a masterpiece!!! ๐
